Since opening the doors in 1998, JMP Holdings has experienced incredible year on year growth and has taken full advantage of the opportunities it has created in the Australian market. We are aligned with a large number of major overseas manufacturers from Europe, Africa, Asia and North America and have built strong long term relationships, allowing us to source the highest quality products at the most competitive prices.
The JMP story began in 1998 when three successful independent business owners decided to pool their experience and form a company together. With over 100 years combined knowledge of the packaging industry, Jeff Egan, Maurie Smith and Paul O’Donnell put their heads (and their initials) together and formed JMP Holdings. Over 15 years has since passed and through the vision and guidance of the directors, JMP is now a business operating on a global scale.
Trading began out of a small factory in Dandenong with just three product lines; stretch wrap, dunnage air bags and desiccants. JMP soon added to this range with the most notable being retail packaging. Plastic and paper shopping bags were the new hot product for JMP and no time was wasted in securing the contracts of high profile retailers, including names such as David Jones, Bunnings and the Just Group.
With such rapid success JMP had quickly outgrown its Dandenong operation and in 2001 moved to larger premises in Downard Street, Braeside. The following year saw the introduction of more cargo protection products such as bulk container liners, the award winning Envirotuff Thermal Insulation liner (ETL) and pallet covers. JMP quickly became the number one supplier in Australia of liners and demand for these soon started filtering in from overseas.
As the product range grew so did the JMP network. JMP opened offices in South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland and also ventured across the ditch into New Zealand. In addition to our Kiwi friends we now have JMP operating out of India, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. In 2005 JMP moved into their first ever purpose built facility in Bond St, Mordialloc in order to cater for the large growth in business.
Through the best part of a decade JMP strived to introduce new and innovative products not seen before in Australia. Our vision and perseverance had also been noticed by our peers, when we were awarded the distinguished title of WISA Inc. Australian Supplier of the Year award in 2008, focusing on supplying products to Australia’s wine industry.
In 2013 JMP introduced a complete range of online packaging including products never seen in the market before such as the JMP designed and trademarked eTailbag which has taken online retail distribution by storm. We have also introduced the Trust Flexitank which is the first and only rectangular and automatically made Flexitank in the world. The introduction of this product into Australia also earnt JMP the WISA 2013 WOW award for the most innovative product at the 2013 Winetech Show.
To cap off a busy year, JMP constructed another 3,000 pallet space warehouse adjacent to our current Bond street building in order to cater for the growth experienced by JMP in these two new markets.
JMP continues to grow all divisions and has recently won several more large retail and online packaging contracts further cementing our position as the leading retail packaging supplier in the country. A new range of industrial products has also been introduced including 100% recycled plastic pallets and a range of high performing but yet affordable collapsible bulk bins.
